DJ Ndeko - Vol. 2 - Under The Lights
This is a little more aggressive than the first mixtape. I actually made this over the summer but I felt like it has a more fall/wintery vibe going on because of the contrast between hard-hitting beats and club tracks in the first half of the mixtape, and then the progressively more chilled out second half. It’s also way more multilingual than the first one.

Saved (2010)debut album from Zimbabwean singer Tinashé.i’m not really sure how to describe this record. it is produced well, and Tinashé wrote all the songs and lyrics himself, his soft voice isn’t disguised with a ton of effects and everything flows nicely. the odd thing is, aside from the track “Zambezi” you’d never know he was African. not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just quite different from most of the music on this blog. i do, however, really enjoy it and i’ll be awaiting his new record set to come out in november this year.

Assimilations (2011)
Senegalese/Philly artist Zakee Kuduro’s debut studio album.
this record is absurdly good. everything about it is fantastic. Zakee went down to Rio to put this thing together, and it shows from the chilled out melodies, the minimalist production, and also the fact that samba legends Joao Gilberto and Vinicius De Moraes both have guest appearances.Zakee also shot videos for about half the tracks, so check those out as well. he is a truly multi-media artist, from the music to the art to the videos.
